The VCIOM Analytical Center will act as a partner of the Future History International Science Fiction Award and will conduct a study of submitted works using neural network-based analysis. The result will be a comprehensive picture of the future, key technologies, and the character archetypes presented in contemporary Russian science fiction.

This synthesis will make futurological forecasts more robust and science fiction more socially significant,” said Valery Fedorov, Director General of the VCIOM Analytical Center and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communications at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
According to Sergey Shikarev, Executive Secretary of the Future History Award, science fiction as a genre places humanity as a whole at its center. “Science fiction writers from different countries describe diverse scenarios of humanity and its development, drawing on their own cultural traditions and responding to the challenges of the modern world. The international scope of the Award and our partnership with the VCIOM Analytical Center will make it possible to study and compare these scenarios, thereby creating a solid foundation for cultural dialogue and cooperation in building a better future.

On September 26, the shortlist in three categories was announced: Best Story, Best Story for Children and Young Adults, and Best Foreign-Language Story.
The list includes 27 best stories selected from more than 2,400 submissions received from authors around the world. The geographic diversity of the finalists highlights the global scale of the Award and the universal interest in the science fiction genre. Writers from Russia, countries across Africa, Asia, South America, China, and Europe submitted their works.
The Future History International Science Fiction Award was established by the ATOM Foundation to Promote the Development of Research, Education, and Communication Initiatives with the support of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM. The total prize fund of the Award exceeds 5 million rubles.
The award ceremony for the winners will take place on November 6, 2025, in Moscow at the Atom Museum at VDNH.
