Award Regulations
1. General Provisions
The International Literary Award (hereinafter referred to as the Award) in the field of science fiction "Future History" is established by the "Atom" Foundation under the auspices of the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom" to popularize the genre of science fiction.
2. Objectives of the Award
The main objectives of the Award, which define its direction, mechanisms, and procedures, are:
  • To stimulate the development of the science fiction genre as a way of creatively understanding the present and designing the future;
  • To encourage talented authors working in science fiction and related genres;
  • To popularize modern achievements in science and technology among readers;
  • To develop international cooperation among writers and cultural figures whose work is dedicated to the future of humanity.
3. Categories and awards
The Award includes three main categories in the science fiction genre:
  • Best Story;
  • Best Story for Children and Teenagers;
  • Best Story in a Foreign Language.
The Supervisory Board may issue additional awards, including those nominated by the Organizing Committee of the Award.
4. Jury
The Award jury consists of experts: writers, scientists, and other prominent figures in the fields of culture and science.
The jury includes:
  • Members working in the "Best Story" and "Best Story in a Foreign Language" categories;
  • Members working in the "Best Story for Children and Teenagers" category.
The composition of the jury is published on the official website of the Award: https://fhistory.ru/ (hereinafter referred to as the Website).
5. Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board includes representatives of domestic and international companies and organizations that share the goals and values of the Award.
Board members support the Award's mission, including promoting science fiction, and provide informational and other types of support.
The Supervisory Board has the following authorities:
  • Approving the Award Regulations;
  • Issuing the Vladimir Popov Prize for contributions to science fiction;
  • Granting other honors, including those proposed by the Organizing Committee.
The composition of the Supervisory Board is published on the Website.
6. Nomination Procedure
6.1. Works submitted in the categories "Best Story" and "Best Story for Children and Teenagers" are nominated by the authors themselves via the online application form on the Website. The application must include the author's contact details (and literary pseudonym, if used), citizenship, place of residence, and age.

6.2. Works in the "Best Story in a Foreign Language" category are nominated by international cultural organizations – partners of the Award.
A list of eligible partner organizations is published on the Website.
7. Nomination Conditions
Works may be nominated for the Award if they meet the following criteria:
7.1. Compliance with the Contest terms, including the theme and other terms published on the Website;
7.2. Text length from 20,000 to 80,000 characters;
7.3. Not previously published – either in print or online – until the official announcement of the Award results;
7.4. Compliance with age restrictions.

The following entries are not accepted:
7.5. Works that violate generally accepted ethical norms or contain explicit language;
7.6. Works that infringe intellectual property laws;
7.7. Works submitted by individuals involved in the Award process from the organizers’ side, or their relatives.
8. Prizes
Authors of the best works in each category will receive monetary prizes:
  • First place – 1,000,000 rubles;
  • Second place – 500,000 rubles;
  • Third place – 300,000 rubles.
The total prize fund for the three main categories is 5,400,000 rubles.
9. Timeline
Key dates in the Award process:
  • Announcement of the Award season – December 2024;
  • Start of submissions – February 2025;
  • End of submissions – July 2025;
  • Shortlist announcement – October 2025;

Award ceremony, during which the winners will be announced, will take place in November 2025, during World Atomic Week.
